BI nabs wanted Jordanian, Chinese

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested two foreign nationals wanted by authorities in their country for alleged criminal offenses.
In a statement over the weekend, the BI identified the fugitives as Jordanian national Hussam Aldeen Mohd Kamiel Ghanem, 56, and Chinese Peng Quanbin, 28.
“They will be deported to answer for crimes they committed in their homelands,” the BI said.
The foreigners were arrested in separate operations in Metro Manila by members of the BI fugitive search unit.
Ghanem was arrested on March 11 at the BI central office in Intramuros, Manila after attempting to extend his tourist visa.
BI tourist visa section personnel found Ghanem’s name in the bureau’s derogatory database.
Peng was nabbed at his house in Barangay Carmona, Makati on March 12.
The fugitives are being held at the BI detention facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig pending deportation proceedings.
