Pag-usab sa Sotto Law aprobado sa komitiba

CEBU, Philippines - Aprobado sa House Committee on Public Information ang gidusong kausaban sa Republic Act 53 o ang Sotto Law diin malakip na ang mga broadcast journalists, news agencies ug internet publications nga exempted sa pagbutyag sa mga tinubdan sa balita.

Ang House Bill 684 gipangamahanan ni Kongresista Raul del Mar sa Dakbayan sa Sugbo samtang ang HB 1479 gipangamahanan ni Kong. Harlin Neil Abayon III sa Party-list AANGAT Tayo.

Matud ni del Mar nga ang balaudnon dili lang makapalig-on sa kompiyansa sa ubang journalists apan nag-ila usab sa kamahinungdanon sa ilang papel sa paglambo sa komunidad ug sa nasud.

Ubos sa Sotto Law, ang publisher, editor, columnist ug reporter sa mga pamantalaan ug mga magazines ang dili mapugos sa pagbutyag sa tinubdan sa mga confidential news report ug impormasyon gawas lang kung ang korte ug Kongreso na ang momando.

“The reason for the rule is that the identity of sources of a confidential news or information must be protected, otherwise, the spring of data for news or commentary dries up and the omission of the press to check and balance and expose wrongdoing is impeded,” matud ni del Mar.

Gitumbok ni del Mar ang balaud nga wala maglakip sa mga journalists sa broadcast stations, news or wire agencies, ug internet newspapers, magazines ug mga susamang publications.

“It is an omission that must be filled, an anomaly that must be corrected. The journalists envisioned by the Sotto Law cannot be confined to print practitioners,” matud  ni del Mar.

Gipasabot ni del Mar nga dihang napasar ang RA 53, wala pa ang electronic journalism ug ang mga broadcast stations nagpalanog lang og mga drama ug musika ug  wala pay mga news reporters.

Ang wire agencies ug internet publications uwahi na nga namugna ug wala usab damha nga moabot ang internet.

Una na nga napasar ang balaudnon sa niaging Kongreso apan wala kaabot sa Senado hinungdan nga giduso kini pagbalik ni del Mar. (BANAT NEWS)
