Man in Dalaguete found dead with two gunshots

CEBU, Philippines - A man was found dead with gunshot wounds on his face and body Saturday in Barangay Ubong, Dalaguete, Cebu.

Alberto Cano, 26, of Barangay Pugalo, was found sprawling dead on the ground some 45 minutes after bursts of gunfire were heard by residents at past 2 a.m.

As per investigation, residents in the area were awakened by the sound of gunshots and checked what happened.

They later found Cano lying on the ground already bloodied and called for assistance from Dalaguete Police.

Responding policemen found a gunshot wound at the bottom of the victim’s left eye and on his nape.

No slugs or empty shells were found at the crime scene.

It was believed that Cano was shot at around the same time the bursts of gunfire were heard.

The police are investigating the incident to identify the culprit and determine the motive of the attack.

The victim, according to the neighbors, was of good moral character.

The police are now waiting for the result of the post mortem examination conducted on the victim and expecting that the medico-legal officer could recover a slug from his body, which will determine the firearm used by the assailant.

Meanwhile, on the same day, a woman was also found dead in Barangay Tayud, Consolacion.

The still unidentified victim stood 5’4 tall and was medium-built. She was wearing a green T-shirt and jeans.

The woman was found by two minors, who immediately asked for help.

The police are yet to determine if the woman may have died of drowning or if she may be a victim of a crime.  (FREEMAN)
