P30-M special poll sa distrito ni Iggy' 'impractical'

Bacolod City, Philippines —Gisaway ug gitawag sa usa ka election lawyer nga “impractical and unnecessary” ang P30-milyones nga special election sa 5th District sa Negros Occidental nga nabakante human sa pagkamatay ni anhing Rep. Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo.

 “It will be totally impractical, a waste of P30 million, time and manpower resources of Comelec (Commission on Elections) to conduct a special election on June 2 (this year) wherein four months after, or on October 1 to 5, will already be the filing of candidacy for the 2013 polls,” matud pa sa press statement ni Atty. Romulo Macalintal.

 “If the concern of Congress is to help the constituents of Arroyo then the P30-million budget for such election could be channeled to the said district,” dugang pa niini ug mipasabot nga ang gastos unya sa mga kandidato alang sa maong special elections mas maayo pang i-donar nalang sa mga konstituwente sa 5th District.

Matud pang Macalintal si kinsa may makadaog sa maong special elections di gihapon makapatuman og mga proyekto sama sa public works o bisan na pagpagawas og pundo sa mga plano niini tungod kay magsugod na karong Pebrero 2013 ang election ban.

 “If our lawmakers are really that concerned and sensitive to the needs of our people, they should heed the call of Comelec chair Sixto Brillantes Jr. not to hold the said election for it is clearly impractical and unnecessary,” pasabot pang Macalintal. Sa sayo pa si Brillantes mipadayag nga di siya uyon nga dunay special elections sa maong distrito tungod kay mag-usik lang kini sa panahon, dugang gastos sa Comelec kay usa nalang ka tuig ang mahibiling termino.

Samtang mao usab kini ang panglantaw ni Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th District), matud pa niya mas maayong bag-ong kongresista pinaagi sa regular nga eleksyon sa sunod tuig ug ang kwartang planong ibubo alang sa special elections itabang nalang sa mga biktima sa linog sa Negros Oriental o ba kaha sa panginahanglan sa panglawas sa mga residente sa 5th District.

Wala hinuon siyay supak kung dunay caretaker nga ibutang ang Kongreso samtang wala pay eleksyon ug silang duha ni Rep. Mercedes Alvarez (Negros Occ., 6th District) andam moako niini. (BANATNEWS)
