Mga utokan nga tinun-an sa pampublikong tunghaan sa Visayas  makadawat og 2nd VP Noli de Castro Academic Excellence and Exemplary Leadership Awards ug ang national selection committee nagsugod na karon sa ilang pagpili sa 10 ka mga finalist nga na pre-qualified sa gatusan ka mga estudyante sa Visayas nga misalmot sa maong nationwide search.

Si Atty. Jesse Andres tsirman sa selection committee ug chief of staff  ni  Bise Presidente  Noli de Castro nagkanayon nga dili lang kadtong mga estudyante nga adunay mga maayong academic records ug outstanding leadership qualities ang mahimong kwalipikado lakip na kadtong mga estudyante nga mga kabus nga  mahimong sumbanan sa uban.

“What distinguishes the VP de Castro awards from the rest is that we recognize the achievements of young people, who have excelled and overcome the constraints that bear on them due to poverty, that serve as inspiration to others,”  sumala pa ni Andres.

Si Andres mibutyag nga ang mga qualifier sa academic excellence category naglangkob nila ni Allan Nadate sa Regional Science High School sa Region VI sa Kalibo, Aklan; Sheen Rojo sa Dona Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School sa La Carlota City; Jean Baldado, Negros Occidental High School, Bacolod City; Stella Leda, Lambunao National High School, Iloilo; ug Jessa Aco gikan sa Cebu City National Science High School.

Sa exemplary leadership award finalists naglangkob nila ni Krisna Ocong sa Dona Hortencia Salas Benedicto National High School; Jason Bisnar sa Capiz National High School sa Roxas City; Linne Bautista sa Regional Science High School sa Region VI, Aklan; Edilyn Uy, Northern Antique Vocational School, Antique; ug Camille Flores sa Negros Occidental High School sa Bacolod City.

Ang mga mananaog sa maong nationwide search ang makadawat og college scholarship grants, cash prizes ug Vice Presidential Medallion.

Ang nahisgutang nationwide search gilusad duha na ka tuig ang milabay ubos sa buhatan sa  bise presidente, Department of Education nga gipresentahan ni director Joey Pelaez, Kabayan Noli de Castro Foundation ug Rotary Club of Midtown Quezon City District 3780 nga gipangulohan sa ilang presidente Davey de Dios.  (Brenda D.
