'7.2 magnitude lindol kasing lakas ng 32 atomic bombs'

MANILA, Philippines – Katumbas ng higit 30 atomic bombs na ginamit noong World War II ang lakas ng tumamang lindol ngayong Martes sa Bohol at malaking bahagi ng Central Visayas.

Sinabi ni Dr. Renato Solidum, ​director ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology (Phivolcs) , makakategorya ang 7.2 magnitude na lindol bilang “major earthquake.”

"A magnitude 7 earthquake has an energy equivalent to around 32 Hiroshima atomic bombs," pahayag ni Solidum sa isang pulong balitaan.

Sinabi pa ni Solidum na mas malakas ang lindol na tumama kaninang pasado alas-8 ng umaga sa yumanig sa Haiti noong 2010, kung saan libu-libo ang nasawi.

Dalawampung katao ang kumpirmadong patay matapos ang lindol, ayon sa National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC).

Umabot sa 110 aftershocks ang naranasan ng rehiyon kung saan ang pinakamalakas ay naitala kaninang 9:55 ng umaga.

Pinakamalakas na naramdaman ang lindol sa lakas na may antas Intensity VII sa Tagbilaran City.
