Grupo umalma sa auto fare adjustment ng DOE

MANILA, Philippines – Tinutulan ng isang grupong kontra sa pagtaas ng pamasahe ang mungkahi ng Department of Energy (DoE) na automatic quarterly fare adjustment.

Sinabi ng grupong Strike The Hike na hindi mareresolba ng mungkahi ng DOE ang problema sa pamasahe.

"The DOE proposal for an automatic quarterly fare adjustment will not resolve the issue of price increases but will only make it chronic and recurring unless the government will regulate oil prices like that of transportation fares," pahayag ng tagapagsalita ng grupo na si Mark Louie Aquino.

 Naunang iminungkahi ni Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla sa Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board ang pagpapatupad ng automatic adjustments sa pamasahe depende sa paggalaw ng halaga ng petrolyo.

Inamin din ni Petilla na walang magagawa ang gobyerno sa pagtaas ng halaga ng langis dahil sa oil deregulation law.

Iminungkahi ng DOE ang automatic adjustment kasunod ng panibagong pagtaas ng presyo ng gasolina (P0.60 kada litro), diesel (P0.45 kada litro), at kerosene (P0.40 kada litro).

 Sinabi ni Aquino na ito na ang pangwalong pagtaas ng presyo ng petrolyo mula noong Enero.

"With the current rising trend of oil prices in the local and international market, we fear that the automatic quarterly fare adjustment scheme will only result higher transportation fares in the long run," ani Aquino.

Nanawagan din ang grupo sa gobyerno na ibasura ang Oil Deregulation Law at kontrolin ang industriya ng langis.
