Obama takes diagnostic tests for sore throat

WASHINGTON (Xinhua) - US President Barack Obama went to hospital on Saturday afternoon to undergo diagnostic tests for a sore throat, but found nothing abnormal.

Ronny Jackson, the presidential physician, said the president had symptoms of sore throat over the past couple weeks.

A White House pool report said Obama was brought to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, located in Bethesda in Maryland state, to take some diagnostic tests, as recommended by Jackson.

Jackson said in a statement that a CT scan was conducted " purely as a matter of convenience" for the president, adding "The CT scan was normal. The president's symptoms are consistent with soft tissue inflammation related to acid reflux and will be treated accordingly."
