GOP Benghazi hearing stokes political controversy

WASHINGTON — House Republicans who insist the Obama administration is covering up information about last year's deadly assault in Libya say their goal is to get answers.

Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said yesterday that the three State Department witnesses at the hearing deserve to be heard.

The Sept. 11 attack at the US diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, killed US ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

Nearly eight months later, Republicans continue to investigate despite an exhaustive independent review and hours of testimony from senior administration officials.
