Anton resets BRC long track record

MANILA, Philippines - Castrol-Yokohama champion driver Carlos Anton established a new norm anew at the Batangas Racing Circuit by claiming the long track record, beating over 70 racers from all over the country in the recently concluded Circuit Showdown.

Anton steered a Mark Young-Hornitex-prepared CRX and clocked 1 min, 44.702 seconds, shattering the year-old record set by Stefano Marcelo aboard his EVO 7 GT300 race car.

With the win, Anton now holds all three track records at the BRC through the huge support of Yokohama, Castrol, Hornitex laminated flooring, Cars Unlimited, Petrol Denim, Autoshack, ASR suspensions, Viewpark Hotel and Special Stage Baguio.

The other two are his short track record of 1 minute, 28.074 seconds and the inside track record of 1:18.835.

“It was a fantastic day and it’s great to take the record back from Stefano. I held it early last year and he took it in September 2012. I’m sure he will give me another run for it soon. After all, he is the future of Philippine racing.” Anton said after the race.

“The team is now preparing hard to try and take the long track record at Clark International Speedway in October. We already hold the short track record there (1:4.673) and it would be nice to close the year holding all the records at the two racetracks in the country,” Anton added.
