Mayor Imboy to run for Bohol governor

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — Loay town Mayor Rosemarie “May” Lim-Imboy had decided to enter the Bohol gubernatorial race in the 2016 elections, ending speculations that re-electionist Gov. Edgar Chatto would be running unopposed.

Mayor Imboy, wife of incumbent Provincial Board Member Brigido “Boy” Imboy, confirmed to The Freeman her gubernatorial bid during a Wednesday gathering at a hotel in this city, attended by supporters of former Liberal Party member and former Carmen town mayor ‘Che’ Toribio delos Reyes, who is vying for a congressional seat of the 3rd district of Bohol.

In a separate interview, PB Member Dionisio Balite also said he will be running as vice governor of Mayor Imboy, under the banner of Senator Koko Pimentel’s Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas Ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), which is headed in the province by Dr. Doloreich Dumaluan.

Dumaluan, who is gunning for mayor of Panglao town, distributed the certificates of nomination and acceptance to the members of the ticket of Mayor Imboy and other bets for mayor and councilors of the party..

Others who were present in the meeting were Mayors Tita Baja Gellentes of Garcia-Hernandez town, Nita Cubrado of Pilar, Esther Tabigue (Mabini), Maria Fe Piezas (Guindulman), Danny Guivencan (Dimiao), Jacinto Naraga (San Isidro), Francisco Pepito (Batuan), Sample Tirol (Buenavista), Casoy Camacho (Getafe), and Helen Calipusan Alaba (Loboc), and former mayor Dano of Sevilla.

Their respective candidates for vice-mayor and for councilor also attended the meeting, which finalized the PDP-Laban line-up in Bohol and its towns.

All party members were scheduled to file their certificates of candidacy yesterday, after which delos Reyes will make some major announcements during a press conference and lucheon at the Delos Reyes Building along F. Rocha Street in this city.

Mayor Imboy and other PDP-Laban bets will then stage a caravan around the province, added an aide of delos Reyes. (FREEMAN)
