DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – Five students of Silliman University in this capital city of Negros Oriental are now in Japan and Korea for their respective one-year student exchange programs, while three of their counterparts are also now at SU.

Three of the SU students are assigned in Japanese universities: Allison Cruff Ladero (Philosophy III) at the International Christian University in Tokyo: and Solimar De Castro (Anthropology II) and Maria Faye Eloise Duran (Entrepreneurship II) at the Shikoku Gakuin University in Kagawa Ken.

Two others are at Hannam University in Daejeon, Korea: Stephanie Ria Colinco (Psychology III) and Val Amiel Vestil (Mass Communication III).

According to Mark Raygan Garcia, director of Information and Publications Office of SU, in a media release, said two partner universities in Japan and Korea have also flown in their exchange students to SU.

They are Takuya Murakami (Humanities major) from Shikoku Gakuin University, who is now enrolled in SU’s Agronomy program, and Kim Sunmin (Christian Studies) from Hannan University, who is taking up subjects in Theology.

The placement of exchange students went through a rigorous process, which considered the students’ academic credentials, personality, and ability to adjust to a new culture and environment, said Garcia.
