Septuagenarian ‘pusher’ yields P1M worth shabu

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A septuagenarian suspected pusher was apprehended after P1 million worth of shabu was seized from her possession during a buy-bust operation in Victorias City, Negros Occidental Thursday afternoon.

Operatives from the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency-6 collared Jesus Verdeflor, 78, of Barangay 6, in Victorias City.

PDEA-6 deputy regional director Ronnie Delicano said Verdeflor handed a big sachet of shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for P6,000. The operatives then recovered 31 more sachets of shabu, weighing 126.5 grams, with an estimated street value of P1 million.

Delicano said Verdeflor, who is now detained and charged with sale and possession of illegal drugs, allegedly supplies drugs in Victorias and its neighboring towns and cities. —Marchel P. Espina (FREEMAN)
