CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Labor and Employment-8 had given P2.3 million worth of livelihood items to target beneficiaries of the informal sector in Mahaplag town of Leyte.
Governor Leopoldo Dominico Petilla said the beneficiaries for this year are the displaced and distressed workers, and the unemployed people of Mahaplag.
DOLE-8, headed by Director Elias Cayanong, in partnership with the Technological Education and Skills Development Authority-8, had released the aid that included tool kits for bread and pastry making, and starter kits for food and beverages services project.
TESDA-8 Director Cleta Omega told The Freeman: “These beneficiaries will still undergo capacity-building activities to further equip them with the right knowledge, skills and talents in pursuing their dreams, as well as, for the kits to be used effectively.”
Mahaplag Mayor Daisy Lleve said DOLE 8’s livelihood assistance will create opportunities for her constituents to rise from poverty and eventually overall development of her town. —Primo A. Cayubit (FREEMAN)
