German "duped" by his fiancée

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – A 39-year-old German national has sought the help of local authorities after his Negrense fiancée allegedly duped him of money.

Richard Alexander Harbich came to Bacolod to marry his 29-year-old girlfriend, whose name is being withheld by The Freeman, whom he met on an online dating site on May last year.

Harbich, who is temporarily residing at a pension house in this city, said he first came to the country in October of last year.

He said that his girlfriend, who is from Murcia town of Negros Occidental, “drop me like a hot potato” after learning about his financial woes. He said that “she was always asking for money.”

Harbich said, “I’m down on money” citing his health problem, adding that his girlfriend suggested to pawn his laptop, worth P50,000, but got only P20,000 from the pawnshop.

The German further alleged that the woman also took his P2,500-worth cellphone and ATM card, from which she withdrew P2,000. He lamented that he doesn’t know where his fiancé is right now.
