CEBU, Philippines - A former councilor of Dumaguete City cheated death when fired upon by unidentified assassins in front of his residence at Barangay Mabigo in Canlaon City last January 6.
Ernesto “Buddy” Ravello, also a former provincial sports coordinator of Negros Oriental, had just arrived at his house when shot at by motorcycle-riding assailants, who immediately fled after the attack.
Ravello, who reportedly tried to fire back, was hit on the left side of his waist and was rushed to the Canlaon City District Hospital and later moved to the Silliman University Medical Center in Dumaguete City where he is now recuperating.
Recovered from the crime scene was an empty shell of a caliber-.45 bullet. Motive of the incident was still being determined while intelligence operatives did not discount the possibility of a land dispute or personal grudge. (FREEMAN)
