BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – The Negros Occidental provincial government is now setting aside P1.9 million as financial help to the affected families of tropical depression Queenie, which hit four towns and two cities in southern part of the province last Thursday.
Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., confirmed this the other day as he revealed that a total of P785,000, spread at P5,000 each will be given to families whose houses were destroyed, while a total of P1.192 million will be given at P2,000 each to those whose houses were damaged.
Marañon said the financial aid will be ready for release within the week.
In a report of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, a total of 157 houses were destroyed while 596 others were damaged in 20 barangays.
Further, a total of 3,258 individuals, or 810 families, were affected by Queenie in the towns of Cauayan, Binalbagan, La Castellana and Pulupandan and the cities of Kabankalan and La Carlota.
