PALO, LEYTE, Philippines – Two hundred sixty families, who were Yolanda survivors and temporarily settled in bunkhouses in this town, will be transferred to a permanent housing site before the end of this year.
Mayor Remedios “Matin” Petilla told The Freeman yesterday that the transfer of the families will be carried out immediately after their permanent houses will be finished either by November or December.
These families in bunkhouses at the Government Center here are already scheduled for transfer to their new settlement site, said Petilla.
The mayor added that the permanent houses were built under the aegis of several donors, as she denied earlier reports that the transfer was done to rid the bunkhouses site of the Yolanda survivors in preparations for the visit of Pope Francis next year.
