TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines — Motorcycle riding-in-tandem assailants gunned down a woman at 4:50 p.m. Friday, along Palma Street and Pres. Carlos P. Garcia Avenue, this city.
Police identified the victim as Aliwayway G. Solis, based on her identification card recovered from the scene, which indicated her as a clerk of the Treasurer’s Office of Butuan City in Agusan del Norte province.
Investigators found from the scene an empty shell of a bullet of a .45-caliber pistol, believed to be used in killing Solis.
While investigation is still going on now, the police are still facing no lead on the motive and identities of the assailants.
City Administrator Leonides “Edi” Borja told The Freeman yesterday that, per information he gathered, the victim may have been linked to the illegal drugs trade.
The victim, he said, was once a manager of a videoke bar in the city that the police raided in the past for alleged trafficking in persons activities. The bar owner was arrested, but he posted bail and subsequently cleared by the court of the charge for lack of evidence. (FREEMAN)
