BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A 34-year-old woman and her three-year-old daughter were found dead inside a pension house, this city, Friday.
Police identified the mother as Lea Cañete, of Barangay Lopez Jaena in Murcia town of Negros Occidental, whose body was found hanging in a nylon rope inside the CR of the rented room. Her mouth was covered with a towel.
Her daughter, Hannah Kate, was also found dead in the bed, with wrists were slashed with a blade.
Police said the victims checked in at the pension house Thursday, but they failed to check out the next day, prompting the room boy to check the room. He subsequently discovered the bodies, and the police are still investigating to determine if there was foul play.
Meanwhile, Maria Luz Segovia, 51, mother of Lea, said her daughter came to Bacolod to claim a P3,000 from the money remittance outlet sent by her husband Joebert, who works as a security guard in Manila.
Segovia said Lea and her daughter did not return home on Thursday, prompting her to report to Bombo Radyo about this. She also admitted that Lea was suffering from a nervous breakdown. (FREEMAN)
