DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Former President Fidel V. Ramos will be celebrating the 113th Founders Day of Silliman University in Dumaguete City and will be the guest of honor in two occasions on August 25.
At 9 a.m. tomorrow, FVR will be the guest of honor in the opening of the Fidel V. Ramos Reading Center at the ground floor of the Robert B. and Metta J. Silliman Library, according to Mark Raygan Garcia, SU director of Information and Publications.
On the same day, at 10 a.m., the former president will be the guest of honor for the Eminent Person Lecture Series at the Claire Isabel McGill Luce Auditorium where he will speak on "The West Philippine Sea Issue: Our Options as a Nation."
The theme for this year's SU Founders' Day celebration is "Submitting to the Refiner's Fire," with several activities lined up since July.
Among the highlights of the celebration are sports competitions, exhibits, cultural presentations, workshops and Balik Talent lectures, Academic Excellence Lecture Series, Miss Silliman Pageant and fun run, to mention some.
A grand civic-military parade "Parada Sillimaniana" is scheduled on August 27 and the following day will mark the awarding of Outstanding Sillimanians and the grand alumni homecoming. (FREEMAN)
