BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Mayor Monico Puentevella has asked Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson to investigate the road project in Burgos Street, because he was not informed about it.
The mayor said he sent a letter to Singson to probe the matter, after the center island, along Burgos Street, was demolished by the DPWH, as part of the P140-million tourism road project that was initiated by former Bacolod lone district representative Anthony Golez.
Puentevella reiterated that he “was never informed about it. They only sent me a letter, which I never saw until Tuesday.”
There’s a “breach of protocol,” said the mayor, adding that “I want these people to be disciplined.” The DPWH district engineer of Bacolod should be investigated also because of “non-protocol and non-delicadeza,” he said.
Puentevella said “this is gross abuse of authority. The (right) protocol should be is that they should wait for the go signal from the Mayor’s Office and the City Engineer’s.”
Besides, the road project has caused traffic among motorists and commuters, he said, adding that the city government was not given ample time. “There’s no preparation on our part.” (FREEMAN)
