BACOLOD CITY, Philippines - — After confirming that President Benigno "PNoy" Aquino III will be in Negros Occidental today to inaugurate projects in the cities of San Carlos and Sagay, Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said he will ask the president to issue an executive order to join the two Negros provinces-Occidental and Oriental-into one region.
Marañon pointed out that it was done in the past, as he cited the executive orders issued by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, which had created the regions of Mimaropa and Caraga.
The governor said that, if he will have the chance, he would take the matter to PNoy and will ask him to issue an order, which he explained will be the fastest way to make the proposal into reality.
Meanwhile, Aquino will inaugurate the 22-megawatt solar power plant of San Carlos Solar Energy Inc. (SaCaSol) and will open the P335 million diversion road and the new Himogaan Bridge. (FREEMAN)
