CEBU, Philippines - A total of 736 pieces of illegally cut lumber (lawaan and guisok species) with a total volume of 9,671 board feet, valued at P386,840, have been confiscated on Saturday at a checkpoint in Quinapondan town of Eastern Samar.
The DENR-Region 8 executive director Leonardo Sibbaluca said the seized lumber, in assorted sizes, was loaded in a 10-wheel truck (plate no. HVN-785) and was brought to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in Borongan City for safekeeping and investigation.
Sibbaluca said the apprehending team, led by CENRO Moises de la Cruz, was accompanied by Quinapondan policemen led by SPO1 Raul Tenorio.
