BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — The week-long 21st Panaad sa Negros Festival in this city generated a total of P5,637,629.20 in gross sales, or an increase of more than P1.3 million than last year's.
Of the total sales, San Carlos City was the top grosser with P1,138,050, followed by Calatrava town with P379,483 and Manapla town with P222,884.
Cadiz City raked up sales of P716,675, but the city was exempted from any award because it was already a Hall of Famer for being the top grosser for four consecutive years since 2010.
Each pavillions of the participating local government units featured products that they have been known for, as the results were based from the sales of furniture and home accessories, among others.
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said more tourists came to the province this year, "I'm thankful for the support and help of the people for making this event successful."
The organic products movement will snowball, as he cited the demands for organic agriculture in the province, added the governor. (FREEMAN)
