ORMOC CITY , Philippines — The recent visit of Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes to this city in Leyte, where he personally hand over the P600,000 assistance for rehabilitation, led to a another positive future: Sisterhood agreement between the two cities.
Cortes and other Mandaue officials were toured around the 1.6-hectare Ormoc City Hall by Mayor Edward Codilla and City Administrator Francis Pepito. While on tour, several topics were discussed, resulting in the exploratory talks of having closer ties between their respective cities.
The two mayors told The Freeman of their mutual interest of formalizing the cities’ linkage via a sisterhood pact.
Cortez expounded his principles of reaching out to more people as possible. “Humans must have no boundaries,†he said.
Codilla was also very receptive to the idea, saying that both cities can learn more from each other. “The peoples of Mandaue and Ormoc have many things in common, many are related too.â€
Pepito, for his part, also confirmed to The Freeman that Codilla has given him the go–signal to prepare for the letter of intent for the sisterhood pact. “Yes, it’s all systems go,†he told The Freeman.
“During the conclusion of the visit, Cortes bared his plans to send his administrator soon to Ormoc to iron-out things and start the observation of Ormoc’s best practices, particularly in the information technology aspect,†added Pepito. (FREEMAN)
