PANGLAO, BOHOL, Philippines - Streetdance contingent of this tourist premier town is now ready to slug it out today in the annual Cebu Sinulog mardi gras competition, under the free interpretation category.
Mayor Nila Montero, in a radio interview here, said the Panglao contingent's participation has a budget of P3 million from different donors and in kind. The provincial government adopted Panglao as the official entry of Bohol to the Sinulog Festival.
Governor Edgar Chatto said putting the Panglao contingent to the Sinulog is a way of promotion to put back Bohol in the tourism radar following the devastating earthquake in Oct. 15, last year. "The presence of Bohol must be felt in the Cebu Sinulog.
Montero said 100 dancers and 50 instrumentalists composed the Panglao contingent. Included in the showcasing of Bohol is the Loboc Children's Band of Loboc town, the home of the internationally multi-awarded Loboc Children Choir.
For his part, Rep. Rene Relampagos (1st dist., Bohol) said he strongly supported the quest for Panglao in Sinulog competition, as a way of tourism promotion for Bohol. (FREEMAN)
