CEBU, Philippines - At least 300 Canadian investors will visit Iloilo City for a business forum from January 18 to 24, before the highlights of the Dinagyang Festival on January 24 to 26.
Iloilo City Tourism Officer Benito Jimena said some of these investors, comprising of Filipino-Canadians and Filipino-Americans, will be staying here further after the forum to witness the world-renowned Dinagyang.
Jimena said the businessmen will also be treated to a spectacular Dinagyang performance during the investment forum at the Royal Garden Hall along Gen. Luna Street on January 21, which will be hosted by the Iloilo City government.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the business tour is under the tourism project of the Local Government Support Program under the Canadian International Development Agency and the Canadian Urban Institute.
During the investment forum, Mabilog said the city government will present to the participants the business and tourism potentials of Iloilo and Guimaras provinces.
The mayor also said Dinagyang has become a main tourist attraction in the country that have inspired other businessmen to invest here.
He added that the Dinagyang's trip to the United States in June last year had promoted the city and the country to the rest of the world and encouraged prospective investors to come to the metropolis. — (FREEMAN)
