Antique town to honor Megan for Ms. World win

CEBU, Philippines - Just like the rest of the country, residents of the Pandan, Antique are ecstatic for Megan Young's win in the Miss World 2013.

But theirs was coupled with pride citing to the fact that Megan's mother, Victoria Talde, hailed from Pandan town, before she relocated to Olongapo City in the early 1980s.

Pandan town Mayor Jonathan Tan, also the concurrent president of the Mayor's League in Antique, said he already commissioned the making of a large tarpaulin to congratulate Megan.

Tan said they are coordinating with the family of Megan's mother to convey their desire to give her a welcome and recognition party.

Although they were praying that Megan could visit her mother's hometown, Tan said they would understand if the newly-crowned Miss World could not make it.

Reports said Megan's mother could have come from Brgy. Nauring, an agricultural and fishing village of Pandan, although some said she resided in Brgy. Centro Norte.

Victoria finished her elementary at Pandan Central School and graduated high school at Pandan Bay Institute.  (FREEMAN)
