For 2014-2016: Negros Oriental officials formulate executive-legislative agenda

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — At least 75 department heads and other key officials of Negros Oriental provincial government have gathered at Sipalay City in Negros Occidental to work on the province's 2014-2016 executive-legislative agenda.

The meeting, from Wednesday until today, was aimed at identifying priority programs and projects of Negros Oriental for the next three years and synchronize these between the executive and legislative branches, according to Capitol Information Officer Adrian Sedillo.

Governor Roel Degamo, Vice Governor Mark Macias, Provincial Board members, Capitol department heads, division, unit and section heads, representatives from the Department of Education and the Philippine National Police, and members of civic society organizations were among the participants in the conference.

Sedillo told The Freeman the formulation of the executive-legislative agenda is being held outside of Negros Oriental to ensure complete attendance of the participants, citing the past meetings where some officials would only attend the first few days but would not return for the final output.

The executive-legislative agenda is designed to bring together a cohesive working relationship between the two branches of the provincial government, and eliminate unnecessary disagreements, deliberations and other setbacks that would slow down the implementation of priority programs and projects, Sedillo said.

The governor's office will consolidate the results of the deliberations and submit the final output to the Provincial Board and the Provincial Development Council for adoption, Sedillo added. (FREEMAN)
