ILOILO CITY , Philippines — As rainy season starts, deaths due to dengue fever are now increasing in Iloilo province with eight deaths and 926 cases reported from January 1-May 18 period.
Iloilo Provincial Health Office (IPHO) head Dr. Patricia Trabado said four deaths came from Cabatuan town while one case each from towns of Banate, Oton, New Lucena and Estancia.
Trabado said Cabatuan also topped in dengue number with 101 cases followed by Janiauy with 83; Banate, 67; Oton, 51; Pototan, 42; Santa Barbara, 41; Calinog, 40; Carles, 37; Pavia, 37; Alimodian, 33; New Lucena, 31; Maasin, 29; Badiangan, 28; San Miguel, 27; Dumangas, 26; Lambunao, 25; Tigbauan, 25; Passi City, 20; Barotac Veijo, 16; Dingle, 15; Leganes, 13; Zarraga, 12; Duenas, 11; and Estancia, 10.
Other dengue cases were reported in towns of Mina, San Rafael and Sara with 11 each while San Enrique had nine; seven each for Bingawan, Leon and San Dionisio, six each for Concepcion, Lemery and Miagao; five in Guimbal; four each in Ajuy and Barotac Nuevo; three each in Balasan, Batad and Tubungan; and one each in Anilao, Igbaras and San Joaquin.
Trabado said dengue cases are increasing in the province because other people are just ignored the IPHO advocacy campaign.
On Monday, the Iloilo provincial government will launch its People Power Do-Day Kontra Dengue at Cabatuan. (FREEMAN)
