A total of 14 colleges applied for tuition hike for the forthcoming school year 2013-14 but only nine of these were able to comply with the requirements and get the CHED-8 approval, according to Socorro Ramos of the CHED-8's technical division.
Among the requirements for the tuition hike bid was that the school must show proof that it consulted students and parents on its plans and made available its statement of operations for scrutiny and justification.
CHED-8 granted the nine colleges an increase of an average of 7 percent on their current rates or P26.21 per unit. A similar increase was granted to other fees or around P 310.00 per semester. (FREEMAN)
