On Galenzoga slay try, Cari denies involvement, but…

BAYBAY CITY, Philippines – The camp of incumbent Mayor Carmen Cari has denied involvement in the foiled assassination of opposition mayoralty candidate Marilou “Malot” Galenzoga last Monday (May 6).

In a press conference held on May 7, Mayor Cari stated: “We were never accused of something like this. What she (Galenzoga) is accusing us is that we are killers. Why will we kill her, assassinate her when she’s not even an official. We know her well that she’s not going to win.”

Some people in a random survey done after the press-con doubted the mayor’s declaration saying that Galenzoga is a winnable candidate after all.

“It is not true that Galenzoga is not winning, because why would they want to kill her,” said Jun in the local dialect but requested to have his family name mentioned.

A retired government employee added: “Based on surveys, Galenzoga is now the frontrunner in the mayoralty contest, therefore she is a target if we analyze the words of Mayor Cari.”

On that same day of the press-con, the City Police already endorsed to the prosecutor’s office the case filed by Galenzoga for attempted murder with the use of illegally possessed firearms and violation of Comelec Resolution 9561-A (illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions) against the suspects Lotgardo Razaga and Rodel Montajes, Mayor Cari and son, 5th district Rep. Carlos “Boying” Cari. (FREEMAN)
