Mindanao princess endorses 4 bets for the Senate

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Former Tawi-Tawi representative, Princess Soraya Jaafar-Golez, the estranged wife of incumbent Bacolod Rep. Anthony Rolando Golez, is endorsing four senatorial candidates for the May 2013 elections.

Jaafar-Golez, daughter of Rep. Nur Jaafar, Friday said she is endorsing and supporting the candidacies of Las Piñas Rep. Cynthia Villar, Nancy Binay, Sen. Francis Escudero, and former MTRCB chairperson Grace Poe-Llamanzares.

She is endorsing Villar because she was the godmother in her wedding with Rep. Golez, and she considered Villar her "second mother."

Escudero was her colleague in Congress when both of them were congressmen, she said, while Poe-Llamanzares is her friend.

Jaafar-Golez said she supports Nancy Binay whose father, Vice President Jejomar Binay, officiated her wedding with Rep. Golez, and that Dr. Elenita Binay stood as principal sponsor.

Her husband of eight years, Rep. Golez, former spokesperson of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, is now seeking reelection against outgoing Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

Jaafar-Golez was in Bacolod Friday night to meet with the media. She said she had filed for annulment of her marriage before a Quezon City court last year, for infidelity.

On September 12 last year, a Quezon City RTC granted her request for a temporary protection order (TPO) for Rep. Golez to stop him from harassing her and their daughter, and to stay away from their house in Capitolville Subdivision in Bacolod City.

Representative Golez has been rumored to be romantically linked to Jewel May Lobaton-Pimentel, estranged wife of reelectionist Sen. Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel.

Jewel May is from Bacolod and was former MassKara Queen and Bb. Pilipinas-Universe beauty titleholder.   (FREEMAN)
