GETAFE, BOHOL, Philippines – A 24-year-old relative of the vice mayor of this town was gunned down here by still unidentified attackers.
Vice Mayor Simon Torreon confirmed that the victim, Ariel Torreon, a resident of Poblacion of this northeastern town, was his relative and that the killing was somehow linked to drugs trade here.
The vice mayor said an allegedly female drug dealer was recently nabbed in the island-barangay of Banacon, which was reportedly a drop-off point of illegal drugs from nearby Cebu.
The victim drove his single motorcycle-for-hire at past 2 p.m., taking two unidentified passengers from Poblacion to Barangay Tulang of this town. Upon arrival at the place, one of the passengers shot him at close range without provocation, then quickly fled from the scene with his companion.
The victim did not make it alive to the hospital, while the police recovered several empty shells of .45-caliber bullets, believed to be used in the killing of Torreon. (FREEMAN)
