Atty. Lazaro N. Ramas holds the title as Liloan’s chief executive who was last to have the title of municipal president. He became a lawyer on January 25, 1952. He won as mayor in 1964. Interestingly, a compatriot, who also served as mayor, Atty. Fabian L. Cañete was admitted to the Bar on the same day as Atty. Ramas.
Mayor Ramas married Lucena Mendoza, a first cousin of ALU-TUCP founder, Atty. Democito Mendoza. Lazaro and Lucena had two children, Dr. Leoncia Ramas Pilones and Anastacio M. Ramas.
Mayor Ramas died in an accident on June 10, 1965 with his vice mayor, Catalino Noval succeeding him. Another member of the Ramas clan also served as Liloan’s municipal president, Cirilo Ramas.
The councilors of Mayor Ramas during this last term were Serafin Goc-ong, Braulio Balverde, Aspren Aligno, Isabelo Ramos, Florentino Pepito, and Rafael Tagalog.
Those who served as municipal presidents of Liloan were Capitan Custudio Mendoza, Teniente Blas Cabatingan, Capitan Marcelo Pilapil, Jose Cabatingan, Cirilo Ramas, Cipriano Jumapao, Florentino Pilapil, Santiago Noval, and Atty. Lazaro Ramas.
In 1964, the estimated population of Liloan was 18,956. The estimated population of Liloan in 2021 is 150,000. Elected as mayor in 2019 was Atty. Christina Garcia Frasco, daughter of Governor Gwendolyn Fiel Garcia, the Iron Lady of the South.
