Disgusted

It says here that a woman who "castigated" a neighbor with harsh language was shot dead by another neighbor. Didn't the Bible say: "He who guards his mouth preserves his life."

"Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone," says the title of an article. Old stuff. My good friend and media colleague Loy Jurado disputes that.

On many occasions Loy said the world today no longer laughs with you. "You laugh and the world would ask: "What's funny?" Loy said.

A nutrition expert says proper nutrition can help break the poverty cycle. Coming as it does from an expert, I can only agree. The problem is proper nutrition cannot be easily availed of by those trapped in the so-called poverty circle.

It says here that the garment we wear can affect power (electricity) consumption. Pardon my ignorance but I can't see the brightness or the wisdom of this claim. I asked some people about the relation of one's garment and power consumption, and the answers I got were shrugs of the shoulder.

It's more than a year, almost two years now, since Yolanda came battering the Visayas, tearing down houses especially in Leyte. Tacloban the most battered and many other areas in Leyte have recovered. But one staff member of a religious charitable organization says many Yolanda victims in Panay and Negros are still living in tents that have already become badly tattered.

He told me over the phone that many Yolanda victims in places outside Leyte have expressed disgust that only Tacloban and other cities and towns in Leyte are given much attention by the so-called Good Samaritans or other do-gooders.

Restaurants are told to serve only half-a-cup of rice, while other eateries are serving unlimited rice. Did you know that there are homes serving no rice at all?
