Love

Beyond the commercial hype surrounding Valentine's Day, it is always good to be reminded about love. February is considered the month of love but for sure there  are those who will argue that love is present each day, all months through each one's lifetime.

There is love within one's family. There is love that couples experience.

Where love is, there is peace, comfort, and security. Love is a beautiful emotion – it is a priceless gift.

The material world prescribes ways of expressing love. However, beyond material expression and forms, real love is sufficient as is and is felt and appreciated. Love is truly a many-splendored thing!

Then there is Love for one's country. February is remembered as a month when Filipinos expressed their love for freedom, their love for a free Philippines by toppling a dictator who reportedly ordered tanks and soldiers and pilots to fire at those who opposed him in EDSA, even if their number swelled to millions! Gratefully, those ordered preferred to serve the Filipino people more than the overstaying dictator. The world saw the Filipinos' brand of Love in 1986.

Pope Francis felt our people's LOVE during his visit. In return, the Filipinos in and out of the Philippines felt the Pope's deep love, especially those in Tacloban whom the Pope visited despite stormy weather.

"Let us tell the world of His love" is not only a song but a battle cry for Christians urged to be ambassadors for God. Perfect love, immeasurable love – far beyond human love, there is divine love, God's love. This is love that offers one's life so others may, so others will live. If one has experienced the deep love of mortals, that of God is beyond description and far more profound than any human can offer. God's love is also everlasting and ever-forgiving, always available, not bound by time or space.
