BEGGARS. This is the Year of the poor and the CBCP has come up with a reminder to priests to give alms to the poor. "Do not be afraid to pamper the beggars," the reminder says. "They have no one to help them." Someone has asked The Ear if this reminder to the priest by a CBCP prelate doesn't run counter to the government's ban on beggary.
CHARITY. An Ear informer who works for a charitable institution said beggars come to the institution in large numbers every Friday to receive alms, mostly food and clothing. "Dugay na ning gibuhat nila bisan sa wa pa idili ang pagpakilimos," our informer said.
