BIR knows Hudas not pay

The hue and cry about the PDAF and now the DAP proves once more the old saying that's always new:

"Money is the root of all evils."

I think the BIR should adopt what the jeepney stickers say: "God knows Hudas not pay."

* * *

But of late newspaper readers are finding out that the BIR also knows Hudas not pay.

Those facing plunder charges are believers in the 11th commandment: "Thou shalt not be caught." But if caught? "Thou shalt not admit."

"Government funds are used to support a crocodile farm," says this news item here. It used to be just a joke that funds like the pork barrel go to where the crocs are.

To sir Bobit A: Thanks for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Enjoy reading them. Like the WSJ story on the US Supreme Court ruling protecting the privacy rights of American cellphone users. Pinoys are supposed to have those rights too but are these also protected?

I just read somewhere that Japanese toddlers are taught good toilet manners. They must say "think you" after flushing the toilet bowl ("inodoro"). I don't want to make comparisons but my octo philosopher friend Noy Temiong says: "Pinoy toddlers have nothing to say thanks to."

It says here that Mexico City has moved to ban animals from the circus. "The ban echoes the rising concern of animal lovers in many countries about the treatment of circus animals," said a New York Times report.

* * *

Backers of the ban say the move is a welcome attempt to return to the animals their dignity. "It is not the bear's nature to wear roller skates, not the tiger's nature to jump through a flaming ring, nor is it an elephant's nature to sit on a stool," say those who favor the ban.

Circus animals are not banned in the Phl as there are no circuses of the Big Top kind in the country. They are in cages for zoo visitors to see. And some observers say our zoo animals "look less well off" than the circus animals in Mexico.

OVERHEARD. A news report says a showbiz comedian wants to take up law in college and be a lawyer one day. One fan of the actor says: "Pagdali, nyor. Daghang taga showbiz problemado nagkinahanglan abogado." Replied the actor's fan: "Basin unya mapugos akong idolo pag espesyalays og annulment cases."
