CEBU, Philippines – To avoid getting stuck in holiday traffic, Talisay City's traffic arm reminded the public to shop earlier for Christmas and New Year revelries.
City Councilor Valeriano Ylanan, chairman of Talisay City-Traffic Operation Division Authority, said he already met with his men to discuss deployment procedures, as well as his last-minute directives.
Ylanan said he instructed his team to apprehend erring drivers who would contribute to the heavy traffic, expecting that there will be more people and vehicles on the road for the holidays.
He said they are expecting many people to shop for their Noche Buena and other Christmas-related activities at the last hour.
Ylanan said they have more or less 100 personnel to be deployed to assist the motorists and to make sure the vehicles are moving. He added that they gave weight on the traffic situation in Barangay Tabunok where more people are seen to converge.
“Ang Tabunok gyud ang among tagaan og pagtagad kay diha gyung dapita maghuot ang mga sakyanan,” Ylanan said.
Ylanan appealed to the public to shop or buy things as early as today so they can avoid the anticipated congestions.
He said this influx of people is no longer surprising and added that the public plays a big role in ensuring that traffic in the streets remains manageable. (FREEMAN)
