Talisay woman claims neighbor 'raped' her

CEBU, Philippines – A mother of one went to the Talisay City Police Station on Sunday evening to report that she was raped by her neighbor in Barangay Lawaan I.

Angel (real name withheld by The FREEMAN) immediately reported the incident to the authorities together with her mother and neighbors.

She identified the suspect as Juvy Lucero, 38, married.

According to Senior Police Officer 1 Mikie Espina, the godmother of the victim told investigators that the suspect barged inside the victim's house when the victim's husband reported for his work as family driver in Mandaue City.

The suspect was allegedly armed with a kitchen knife which he pointed to the victim while trying to undress her.

The victim reportedly resisted and tried to run but the suspect grabbed her.

The godmother further tried to unarm the suspect but she was overpowered. The victim even wounded during the struggle.

The suspect's evil desire was executed which made the victim in trauma.

The next day, the victim went to Talisay City Police Station and was referred to undergo examination. The godmother said the examining officer at the hospital confirmed that indeed the victim was touched.

Yesterday, authorities conducted a hot pursuit operation and successfully collared the suspect inside their house. The suspect did not resist his arrest.

Rape charges will be filed against him, police said.

Still in Talisay City, a drug peddler was arrested by the barangay officials of Jaclupan last Monday afternoon.

The suspect was identified as Aldrin Bonghanoy, 31, married, resident of Sitio Dike of the same barangay.

Barangay Captain Joel Orbiso led the arrest, together with barangay tanods Wilfredo Adan and Rizalde Cabaluna.

Orbiso said he was called up by his men upon seeing Bonghanoy at the chapel of said place.

He said they received information that Bonghanoy was doing his illegal business in the area, which prompted them to approach the latter and invite him to the barangay hall.

During the frisking, authorities found 20 small pieces of illegal drugs and eight unused tin foil strips.

Orbiso said he explained to the suspect that his business was illegal.

"Niingon pa si Bonghanoy nga ginagmay ra ang iyang negosyo pero unsaon ta man na nga iligal man ug makadaot pa gyud sa kaugmaon sa kabatan-onan," Orbiso said.

They brought the suspect to Talisay City Police Station where he is now detained.

Orbiso said he has been receiving many complaints regarding the suspect's illegal trade.

Appropriate charges were be filed against the suspect yesterday. (FREEMAN)
