CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City Council, during its regular session, by a vote of eight to two, rejected a resolution supporting the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, or 4 Ps, of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The resolution was authored by Liberal Party member, Councilor Valeriano Ylanan, with the support of Councilor Dennis Basillote. but they were outnumbered by the Alayon Party-dominated Council.
Councilor Aldin Diaz, in opposing the resolution, said this is no longer necessary because the 4Ps is a national government initiative, implemented for the past years already.
Diaz said it is better not to use the existing programs of the national government for one’s political advantage because 4Ps could be implemented even without the so-called support of the local government.
“Dili lang unta nato gamiton sa politika ang 4Ps,” Diaz said. —Gabriel C. Bonjoc/RAE (FREEMAN)
