Villarante, Caballero join Talisay race

CEBU, Philippines –  Talisay City Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante filed his certificate of candidacy on Friday, together with his running mate Councilor Danny Caballero.

The group of Villarante heard the Mass at 8 a.m. at the Sta. Teresa de Avila Parish Church.

They then motorcaded towards the office of the Ombudsman and passed in the front of the City Hall, not like the group of Mayor Johnny De los Reyes and former congressman Eduardo Gullas who passed from the back of the building on their way to the office of the Commission on Elections.

This as the group observed the belief of their elder supporters.

Villarante and Caballero were joined by their supporters who were wearing blue T-shirt.

Villarante said if he wins, he will give dignity to the less fortunate, unlike what is done by the present administration, which makes them look like "beggars."

"My group represents all sectors whom Talisaynons could really choose to bring the genuine change for the city," Villarante said.

He said they have the vision and mission towards the peaceful and progressive Talisay by helping each and everyone to be part of the development.

Caballero was joined by his family in the filing. He said he will try hard to win the hearts of the people considering that his opponents are veterans in politics.

Incumbent City Councilor Aldin Diaz told reporters he received offers from another party but he ignored them saying that Villarante is more true in his public service.

Villarante said there is no need to throw bomb shells to the opponents since each of them is making bomb shells for themselves, especially the incumbent mayor.

Villarante's councilors are Serenia Cabanero, Bensing Raguindin, Lee Consul, incumbent councilor Aldin Diaz, Michelle Emuslan, Lina Libres, Dr. Chester Salcedo, Anna Jordana Quisumbing, and Sherwin Echavez.  (FREEMAN)
