LTFRB exec insists on no recalibration

CEBU, Philippines - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-7 will not order for the recalibration of taxi units amid the recently implemented P10 taxi fare reduction.

LTFRB-7 acting director Reynaldo Elnar said the taxi fare reduction is just a provisional or a temporary one.

"Temporary ra man ni ang pagpaubos sa pletehan sa taxi and besides, there is no order from our head office to do so," Elnar said.

The Cebu Provincial Board recently passed a Resolution urging LTFRB to order for the calibration of taxi units here to avoid confusion among the riding public.

Meanwhile, LTFRB-7 hearing officer Edwin Antepuesto has reset the hearing of complaint filed by passenger Dave Horca against the taxi driver Jose Ramos after the complainant failed to appear at the hearing yesterday.

Antepuesto said both parties did not submit their respective formal written affidavits either.

Antepuesto said if this will not be complied with in the next hearing, then LTFRB-7 will decide on the matter accordingly.

To recall, Horca filed a complaint before the LTFRB-7 alleging that Ramos threatened him with a knife after he asked for the P10 fare rollback that took effect last March 9.

Ramos, however, strongly denied the allegations, contending that Horca got angry when he (Horca) found out that his taxi was not recalibrated. (FREEMAN)
