CEBU, Philippines – Police are looking at personal grudge as a motive into the stabbing of a 27-year-old man yesterday morning in Sitio Malingin, Barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City.
Eliquim Daño sustained wounds after being hit by a kitchen knife by his cousin Vincent Daño, who also resides in the same barangay.
Initial investigation showed that while Eliquim was on his way to buy something at a nearby store, Vincent allegedly attacked him.
Eliquim got injured on his back and left after he was "stabbed several times," police said.
The suspect fled from the scene while the victim was rushed to Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital for medical treatment.
According to reports, the cousins harbored personal grudge against each other because the victim allegedly stood witness to a thievery case in which suspect's father was involved.
The police are still conducting a follow-up operation for possible arrest of the suspect.
