CEBU, Philippines - The suspects in separate stabbing incidents in Cebu City that claimed the lives of two victims have surrendered to authorities.
Security guard Hermio Cordeniel, 36, submitted himself to the barangay tanods in Barangay Busay two days after he reportedly stabbed Alvin Ricaña, 35, in Sitio Groto, Upper Panabang, Barangay Apas, Cebu City.
When the police arrived at the area, the victim was found lifeless at the front yard of his house.
Ricaña suffered from multiple stab wounds on his chest, stomach and left side of the body that led to his death.
At the crime scene, the police recovered a crowbar measuring about 31 and a half inches long.
Based on the testimonies of the witnesses, Cordeniel suddenly barged inside the house of Ricaña and attacked the latter.
Ricaña then fell to the ground while Cordeniel immediately fled from the area after.
Meanwhile, Ryan Abaño, 30, voluntarily surrendered to the barangay tanods after he allegedly stabbed Lemuel Abaño , a 32-year-old ambulant fish vendor, in Sitio Missionares, Barangay Suba, Cebu City Thursday evening.
Initial investigation showed that Novie Paderna, the informant, said she and Ryan engaged into a heated argument over personal matters in their house.
Lemuel, who used to be her live-in partner, intervened with the two that resulted to a wrestle between the two brothers.
However, Ryan reportedly got hold of a knife and stabbed Lemuel on his stomach twice.
Lemuel was pronounced dead on arrival at Cebu City Medical Center.
Police investigation further revealed that Ryan personally harbored ill feelings against Lemuel for allegedly mocking him intentionally on the former's laundry clothes being washed along with the dirty dishes.
The two suspects are currently detained at Cebu City Police Office. — (FREEMAN)
