Grudge behind man's stabbing

CEBU, Philippines – A 20-year-old man was stabbed by the alleged foe of his uncle past 9 p.m. Friday in Sitio Sangi Interior, Barangay Pajo in Lapu-Lapu City.

Efren Pepito Jr., who is a resident of the same barangay, was stabbed with the use of a bladed weapon by Ronald Ybañez, 30, who also lives in the same area, according to Police Officer 3 Lydo Pinos, investigator at Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Homicide Section.

Initial investigation revealed that Pepito was got an instruction from his uncle Peter Vismar and was told to confront Ybañez and challenge him to a fistfight.

Vismar reportedly has a bad blood against Ybañez because of a personal grudge, making him coach his nephew to brawl with the  suspect.

While Pepito challenged Ybañez to a fight, the incident got twisted when the suspect drew a bladed weapon he was reportedly carrying all along and thrusted the said weapon on the victim's back.

The suspect immediately fled from the scene while the victim was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital for further medical attention.

As of now, Pinos said that police are still conducting an investigation for the possible arrest of the suspect.
