CEBU, Philippines – The Compostela Municipal Council has requested telecommunication companies to look into the alleged “poor service” in the town.
The council made the request through a resolution addressed to telecom giants Globe, Smart, PLDT, and Sun Cellular, as well as other service providers.
Compostela Mayor Joel Quiño confirmed that his office received a number of complaints from residents in the town, as well as from the business sector.
Quiño said communication facilities are among the major concerns raised by a number of businessmen who visited his office, alongside electricity and water.
“Dako gayud kaayo nga babag sa kalambuan sa atong lungsod ang dili maayong communication,” Quiño said.
During the regular meeting of the Chamber of Commerce in Compostela, Cebu, Inc., the issue about the poor telecom service in the town was among the problems discussed.
Compostela’s neighbors – Liloan and Danao City – are also experiencing the same problem.
Pete Delantar Jr. president of the Chamber of Commerce in Compostela, Inc. said that some of their members have aired their complaints over the problem of communications. Delantar said telecommunications, Internet in particular, is very important to the town, especially the business sector, as a way to attract investors.
Businessman Allan Alfonso who owns AMA Plaza in Barangay Canamucan in Compostela is one of those who expressed his concerns over the poor telecom service in the town. – /JMO
