CEBU, Philippines - A dead body surrounded with rolled aluminum foils was found near rocks and bushes of Sitio Ylaya, Barangay Ibabao, Cordova town yesterday morning.
A nearby resident sought assistance from Cordova Police Station after finding the body of Jerome Dubalan, 33, who reportedly worked as technician and a resident of the same barangay.
Though the police said they are still conducting investigation into the crime, they said they now have custody of a person who might give leads into their investigation.
"We are still in the process of identifying the persons who were with Dubalan, and what time and date they were with him," said Police Officer 2 Noem Rosillosa, investigator at Cordova Police Station.
Accounts from Dubalan's neighbors revealed the victim allegedly used illegal drugs, according to Rosillosa.
Dubalan is survived by his two sons and a wife who reportedly works in a known resort in Lapu-Lapu City.
The place where police recovered Dubalan's body was described by Rosillosa as full of bushes and rocks. It is reportedly a notorious place for drug users to do their illegal activities.
Rosillosa reported the victim had gunshot wounds in his head that made its entrance from the right side and exited at the left side.
A revolver could have been used in the shooting, police said.
The body of the victim was submitted for autopsy and the investigation is still ongoing for possible arrest of the suspect. (FREEMAN)
